Recycling and Reuse After Demolitions in Springfield, MA

Associated Building Wreckers is fully committed to recycling, not because it’s the law, but because it’s the right thing to do. At the end of a building’s life, demolition generates large amounts of wood, metal, and masonry that can be reused or recycled. Our strategic partnerships with outside recycling facilities in the Northeast mean we can be extremely competitive on every project.

During the initial investigation of the project, we will identify those items that can be salvaged for resale at our facility. Often, these are cast iron radiators, boilers, plumbing fixtures, cabinetry, mantles, and various architectural pieces. Every pound of reused material that comes out of the project is a direct cost savings to our customers.

Fully Committed to Recycling

What remains after the salvaging process is 80-95% recycled! The bulk of the waste stream from a demolition project is wood and metal. Wood and mixed debris is directly shipped to a local facility for separation and processing. Metals are taken to a scrap facility where, again, these materials are segregated for later refining and processed into new steel, copper, aluminum, etc.

Masonry, namely brick and concrete, is 100% recycled! Concrete, asphalt, and or brick can be hauled back to our facility for crushing, or we can bring the operation to you and crush on-site. Our equipment is capable of making a hard-pack material ranging in sizes from 6” minus all the way down to 1½”. The recycling of this masonry makes an excellent aggregate product that can be used as a road base or as a fill.
